Another thumbs-up for more list activity. Ernest, it's great to hear that you were able to get something flying. Keep the numbers coming; we can almost always learn *something* from just about any experience that others share. Todd, I've missed seeing updates from you, as well. Your success with the additional tankage in your -9 was responsible, at least in part, for me adding addtl capacity to the -7 I'm building.

I've been making sporadic progress in the -7, but most of the stuff I've been doing lately has been rather generic airframe stuff; not really rotary related so I didn't see much reason to post.

I did do a mod to the 'boot cowl', the forward top skin of the fuselage. I added access ports on both sides in the highly curved areas of that skin, which allow access to the firewall grounds, motor mount bolts, the forward-mounted EC-2, ELT (hoping that works ok), and I made a door for the passenger side opening so I can install forward storage like an RV-8.

Pics if desired...

Hey Ernest;
  Good to hear from you again. And thanks for still sharing your data. I too miss the good old days when the FlyRotary list was much more active with the likes of yourself as well as other interesting characters such as Rusty, Leon, Lynn, Ed, Tracy, Mike, Marv and many others that have either moved on, passed on, or faded into the background to lurk quietly with the occasional post (like this one).
   I'm glad to see you're still active even if it's not with a rotary. After a long hiatus I've finally returned to my project as well. I only intended to make a few small mods, but armed with my previous experiences, info gathered from others over the years of silent lurking on this list as well as better resources available to me and of coarse the ever improving new technologies, and my plane is now nearing the end of a major rebuild and redesign.
    I'll provide some updates to all this soon, to see if I can still get the conversation rolling here on the list.

Well, that was inspirational.  I have the descent rate.  I have the forward speed.  I can easily calculate the best glide and climb angles from that.  Thanks, James.
