In cruise, an open= ing of about 35 sq in gives about 185 deg F coolant out of the engine and a= bout 200 deg F oil into the engine with an OAT of about 60 deg F. The scoop inlet is fixed at 2" x 16" or 32 sq in. It appears that the inle= t should have been larger to handle take off and climb at OAT of higher tha= n about 70 deg F. It would be interesting to tuft test the outlet when partially closed.
