No I did not check it immediately before flight but had done the fill and burp a few times followed by ground running will all indications normal.
I think Bobby is right that there was still some trapped air in the system … definitely not the pressure cap as I had pressurized the system to check for leaks.
Before next flight I’ll pressurize the system to back-fill the block from the expansion tank.

Out of curiosity, did you check the water level before the flight?
Is it possible that you blew it out past your pressure cap(defective?)

Congratulations on getting back in the air. That ½ quart of coolant may have been trapped air that purged during flight.
