Bill,
Only the inlet is P
ported, the exhaust is stock for I was told that a stock renesis is quieter than
the 13B. The side inlets were filled with some very expensive epoxy.
My probes are sited approx 2 to 3 inches from the face of the exhaust
port. My rotary racing bloke suggests that 1700 should be the upper limit
although Tracy suggests that mid 1800 is survivable. I believe that 25
BTDC is standard, so will try up to 30 and see what improvement is evident I can
get a substantial drop in EGT with a very rich mix. So still reinventing
the wheel. Neil.

Neil,
Are both the intake and
exhaust P ported? How did you do it? How did you block off the side
irons? I doubt there is anything wrong with our timing or advance. I
have a stock Renesis and I get EGTs from 1725 to the middle
1800s.
How close to the engine
are your probes?
Bill

I have a P ported renesis and am seeing EGT up to 1850. Having talked with
various people with far more knowledge than myself, who suggest it may be that
the spark should be advanced up to around 30 BTDC. to reduce the EGT. Rather
than destroy the motor finding out, I am looking at getting the engine onto a
dyno to clarify the timing and EGT’s. Should be very interesting to say
the least. No one works here until the first half of Jan has passed in
this banana republic of OZ.

I've had server issues
this week and could not send this until
today.
I actually have the
RD1-C PSRU. (My Bad.) Tracy started selling these about 6-7 years ago
for use with the Renesis.
The prop turns
clockwise from the pilot's seat view.
I normally see EGT's
in the high 1750 F. during full power takeoff and early climb. It will go above
1800 F. if the mixture is real close to best power. I have my EM-2 set to warn
me if the EGTs go above 1800.
