First of all, someone on the list a while back referred us to a supplier for a remote spin on fuel filter and bracket. I have lost track of where I bought the thing and I hope someone remembers. Do a search on jegs.com for fuel filter. You'll see several of the screw on type. The cartridges should be interchangeable, but a call to there 1-800 number would confirm that. The other question is about the fact that the filter says “ethanol approved” on it. I have been very careful to not let any ethanol get into the plane, yet, when I removed the filter, the o-ring closest to the fuel is swollen and will not go back into its proper position. The only thing that comes to mind that could have caused the o-ring to swell is that I add a 50/50 mix of Marvel Mystery Oil and 2-cycle oil. Since there has been no ethanol, could the MMO have caused the o-ring to swell? Bill B
Yes, the MMO of two cycle could cause the rubber to swell. Rubbers and solvents have all sorts of interactions and compatibilities. Hard to ever say what will affect what without a detailed analysis of both. |
