I was fortunate both time to have that old = friend -=20 Altitude.  One time from 9500MSL I made it 12 miles and from 7500 = MSL I=20 made it 7 miles to a runway.  I also fly a tight high = pattern.

But being 5 miles away from the runway at 1500=92 = isn=92t the=20 same as 5 miles away at 8000=92.
