Keeping a calm (relative speaking) head paid dividends for you (and the aircraft). You can only do the best you can with the situation you are served and you clearly did. I've always said I would rather go off the long end doing 20 mph than end up 20 mph short of airspeed on the front end of the runway. However, to claim the Engine Out mantle, you have to be more than 5 miles from the airport when the engine quits (and still make it to the airport) {:>). Don't how hot it may have been - but quitting with lower engine rpm (such as pulling back on throttle in the pattern) and having an hard time restarting could indicate excess or disprupted fuel flow due to fuel percolating in the lines. Do you have a boost pump you keep on when in the pattern. I found that even a 6 psi facet pump did wonders in reducing percolation in the fuel line on hot days. Keep us in the loop.
