Well the rumors and speculation about the new 16X in a 2013 RX7 are sort of confirmed... but not really. Someone on the RX7 forum posted a link to a Mazda commercial that ran recently.
Right at 30 seconds for about 0.1 seconds is a shot of a car that looks like the some of the leaked images of the rumored 2013 RX7. The leaked photos have lots of black panels and things on the car to make it hard to identify, but the little mirrors are the dead give away. That brief photo is followed by a couple of seconds where they show the guts of the new 16X! I don't know if anyone else is as excited about the
16X as me, but it sure got my adrenaline going when I saw that. After all, if they put it in a commercial, I have to think that it's become more than rumors and speculation.
I have been waiting for this engine for what seems like an eternity. It will be very interesting to see if the Mazda promises of an engine that's lighter than the Renesis but delivers more HP come true. I'm still hoping for a rotary FWF installation that weighs in at about a 180 aircraft engine weight but delivers 220-250 hp.
