I sent my EC2 back to Tracy for an update, it was having ignitions issues
above 6000 rpms. Now happy to report that it runs great. I have the gen 3
crank angle sensors and trigger wheel, which needed some sort of software
tweak to have it run correctly. Thanks Tracy. It was easy to tuneand runs
smoothly throughout the RPM range. I do have an issue with the EGTs- my EM2
shows both egts running above 1700 up to 2000 F- way too hot, too hot for me
to beleive the readout is accurate. This was occurring before I sent the unit
back for the upgrade. My timing is set correctly, and I tried advancing it 4
degrees to see if there was any change in EGTs. No joy. I'll be running
anywhere over 4000 rpm and the egts are above 1600 and will go higher with
more throttle. I've tired to lean out the mixture, and the engine will lose
power way before the EGTs start to drop. Typical coolant and oil temps today
at 30f , 4000 feet, 5000 rpm, (mp I did not note, dammit) were both around 150
degrees- nice and cool, too much so in fact.
So, how do I test the accuracy of my EGT's? If the are accurate, I
fear my apex seals are gonna die soon.
