Also, iirc, when you buy the stationary gear from Mazdatrix, the bearing is installed. The price was not bad, and perhaps less than farming out the press work, otherwise I would not bought the assembly ;-)

All,

I have disassembled my 13B FD engine and found a bushing in the front housing (iron) that is badly worn.  It appears that it was oil-starved at some point.  It is shown in the ’93 and ’94 shop manuals between the thrust washer and front stationary gear.  The bushing, however is not identified in either manual.  Can anyone tell me:

1.       Is the bushing replaceable?

2.       What is it called (so I can buy the correct part)

3.       Where can I buy it?

4.       How is it removed/installed (Press?  Which direction?)

Thanks for any advise.

Gordon,
The only "bushing" that I am aware of in the front iron hsg would be the
eccentric shaft bearing in the front stationary gear...............It is replaceable
if worn out of tolerance............It must be pressed both out and in and because
of a "tang" must be removed from one side and installed from the other side
while making sure "tang" is aligned with the notch in the stationary gear bore
which also aligns the oil feed holes in both the bearing and gear............Job
requires a hydraulic press and a tool (either fabricated or purchased from
a vender such as "Mazdatrix", "Atkins", etc) or farmed out to a local "Mazda"
dealer or machine shop..............
