I got the rear cover nut by rigidly restraining the e-shaft. I didn't have
a flywheel or counterweight so I was trying to hold the shaft with a pipe
wrench on the pulley boss. The wrench didn't hold the shaft rigidly and
absorbed the impact from the impact wrench. I bought a flywheel and
counterweight and then was able to hold the counterweight with a piece of
angle steel across the rear (transmission) end of the engine. Once I was
able to hold the counterweight, I was able to turn the nut with a 5'
extension on my breaker bar.

BTW, thanks for all the suggestions about how to remove the rear cover
nut. Obviously they helped.
How did you finally get it off, Gordon?
