Actually Ernest the one I drew up is reverse-logic to Mistrals’, though I didn’t know it at the time of sketch.

Mistral had exhaust inlets that were full of holes, with the ends flat and welded, dumping into a muffler cavity … see attached.

The one I drew has the exhaust outlet full of holes, extracting exhaust from the muffler cavity.

Also Mistral had theirs bolted to the engine block; the drawing I presented is obviously intended to be installed much further downstream; in my application about 5-6 feet away from the flame.

I’m not saying it will work … just throwing it out there for comments … thanks for the input.

Jeff

Isn't this very similar to the one that brought Mistral's Cherokee test
plane down?

I wonder how it would perform if there were four reinforced 1/2" holes
drilled in the front transition, such that a small amount of exhaust
energy could escape that way, and ram pressure could pull in cool air to
mix with the hot, supersonic exhaust.
