Cut into 1" lengths and round the corners and you've got a lightweight cost-effective solution. Drill whatever size hole you need to match the switch. Mark S. MPJA sells 1/2" units for standard toggle switches. Eric at Perihe= lion sells a range of options, including U- and D-shaped side guards for bo= th 1/2" and 1/4" switches. The side guards aren't QUITE as se= cure as the ones with a hinged flap, but they definitely help.

You can also get 1/2" U-channel from McMaster or the Borg and cut = these lengths yourself. They may not be the dreamy red-flapper type, but co= nsidering how easy they are to make, it's easy, cheap insurance.
