If you are worried about needing a replacement engine, go ou= t and start looking for a salvage engine now. make sure it is in good condi= tion and then pickle it. Compared to a lycoming, a rotary should last at le= ast as long, and you should be able to get two or three short block 13Bs fo= r the price of just rebuilding one lycoming. We've been able to do that for decades.

As for the Corvair, all you need are some serviceable castin= gs and the forged crank and you are good to go. Everything else is either e= asy to rebuild or available aftermarket.
