I can't point to the actual source, but the story is that one of the big rotary after-market performance suppliers tried a lot of different headers on the RX-8 (Renesis) & couldn't get more than around 7hp more than the stock manifold. Supposedly due to the no-overlap nature of the Renesis intake/exhaust tuning.

Hey, How long is optimal for the Exhaust runners in the Renesis engine before joining at the muffler? also, Do turns or bends in the exhust system affect the output?
