I bought two RX-4 transmissions from him (a great upgrade for any 1st generation RX-7!)  He does focus more on the older cars - when I was there last year I didn't see any RX-8's.

I'm in Denver now, but I lived in Seattle for five years.  I also had good luck with Jerry's Little Car Shop - he tackled jobs that were too big for me.  He's a mechanic only, though, not a parts source (he buys parts from Jeff, as it turns out).

There's also a Jeff's Auto chain in the Seattle area.  It's different.

William,
Who do you know outside Seattle with all the wrecked RX-7s? I live in Redmond, and would love to be able to get some used RX-7 parts. It's not Dave Atkins, is it?

Where are you located?

Thanks

It is still possible to buy complete engines although rebuilders don't like to do it, as they have only so many of the expensive, difficult to obtain parts available.  It's easier to get a brand new Renesis, since Mazda still makes the new parts.  You can even buy a factory-new crate engine of those.  If you know who you want to build your engine, then just call them and see if they'll sell you a whole one.

If you want to build it yourself, then just do some sleuthing.  Wrecked RX-8's are fairly common.  There's a guy I know outside Seattle with about a hundred RX's of all generations in his shopyard, going all the way back to the early 70s.  There are fewer and fewer 3rd generation RX-7 wrecks because there aren't too many of them left and the owners now tend to be careful with them, but sometimes they turn up.  rx7club.com has an active buy/sell/trade section.  For a core engine, it doesn't really matter what its history is.

Howdy, All,

New to the list and interested in knowing more about the Rotary installation process, I would like to know the recommended places to purchase an engine core.  I have been looking through a number of websites searching for information, most of which begins after a builder has procured a core.  I would imagine local junkyards, but how about the online vendors, Ebay, etc.?

Thanks very much - I look forward to hearing what y'all have to say and learning more.

Cedric Gould
