Jarrett,
=0A
 =0A
Had some relief from my day job&nbs= p;Thursday afternoon and was able to spend a precious few
=0A
hou= rs at my hangar..............Bolted my spare Lycoming "Dyna-focal" mount ri= ng to the "Mistral"
=0A
"Backplate" and proceeded to do some = serious manual measurements to see if the "Renesis"
=0A
water-pump= housing/pump cartridge can be integrated onto the "Mistral" "Backplate"...= .........
=0A

=0A
I have = identified 4 problems at this time.......... None that cannot be easil= y fixed............
=0A

=0A
(1) First as I thought= the left most  water-pump housing /stud (looking forward from cockpit= ) has
=0A
a slight interference wit= h the top left mount retainer cup........This retainer can be relieved slig= htly
=0A
and a small re-enforcing = patch welded without any loss of structural integrity.............
=0A=

=0A
(2) The "Lycoming" mount ring I have (obtained fro= m "Aircraft Spruce" prewelded) will have to
=0A
&= nbsp;   have the top tubing cross-member removed and replaced as = it needs a higher "Bow" in the
=0A
&n= bsp; tube and placed at a different angle to clear the pump housing an= d revised inlet/outlet for
=0A
&= nbsp; coolant........It might be better to buy the mount ring as an unwelde= d kit from A/C Spruce....
=0A

=0A
(3) The coolant = inlet and outlet of the stock "Renesis" pump housing has to be reposit= ioned
=0A
when it is "Married" to t= he "Mistral" back-plate because it is aimed directly at the top left <= /DIV>=0A
mount retainer..........Wi= ll leave that "Magic" to you Jarrett...............<:)
=0A
=0A
(4) There will need to be 1 extra stud hole drilled&n= bsp;from the married "Renesis" pump housing
=0A
=     through the re-engineered "Mistral" hsg that mates up wi= th a threaded boss in the 93-99
=0A
    = 13BREW , Cosmo 13B & 20B and Renesis front side hsg................Thi= s boss does not
=0A
exist on the 86-91 1= 3B which the "Mistral" back-plate was designed for...........
=0A
=
=0A
These are the major=  things I have identified so far and I am sure there will be others...= ... I still
=0A
do not know what exactly to do about the removable= front cover of the "Mistral" hsg........Whether
=0A
to try and re= tain a smaller cover by eliminating the auxiliary drive portion of the= cover or just to do
=0A
a simplified  copy (easier to = cast compared to the pressure cast "Renesis" hsg) of the center
= =0A
part of the "Renesis" hsg to try and retain the EFI/IGN sensor= mount..........
=0A

=0A
&= nbsp;  Enough for now...........This will give you some info to mull o= ver.................I will try to get a few
=0A
photos to illustr= ate some of what is above.............
