I told Kelly I would take pictures as this part of my project progressed, and here is my presentation...spread over many emails due to picture size limitations.
I started with a 12"x12"x2" slab of 6061 aluminum that I machined into an adapter to hold my generator's rotor, the clutch adapter plate and the fins for a blower. I first spent time learning to cast aluminum, hoping to make this a cast part. That was a no-go, but I did learn to cast and have made several small parts.
Here is the adapter pictured with the fins.
