I first tried to make a casted luminum piece. That failed. I was able to make several small parts, but trying to cast this big plate resulted in a pain= t an sized chunk of aluminum stuck in the furnace. I ran out of fuel at just the wrong time. So, I ordered a 12"x12"x1.5" block of 6061-T6, chopped off the corners, hopped off then new corners, tapped the center for a 1/2" bolt, and started turning. The pile of shiny stuff is aluminu= m warf. The lathe was kicking it out like a web out of a spider. The Harley-Davidson rotor bolts onto the front. I turned an alignment ool to center it. The clutch plate snaps (literally clicks when it goes in) into the back of the plate, and the hole assembly snaps into the flex plate. The only step left is to rivet the impeller blades onto the plate, fill he pump body with foam and carve a volute, then glass it in. --------------------------------------------------------------------------= - --- --------------------------------------------------------------------------= - --- --------------------------------------------------------------------------= - --- --------------------------------------------------------------------------= - --- --------------------------------------------------------------------------= - --- --------------------------------------------------------------------------= - --- -- Homepage: http://www.flyrotary.com/ Archive and UnSub: ttp://mail.lancaironline.net:81/lists/flyrotary/List.html - omepage: http://www.flyrotary.com/ rchive and UnSub: http://mail.lancaironline.net:81/lists/flyrotary/List.= html ----------MB_8CD61FD54AA2112_16F8_1E974_Webmail-m124.sysops.aol.com Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii"

Ern=
est,

Nice job, I like the idea of eliminating the alternator up front. I was
wondering if a timing wheel could be incorporated for injector or ignition
triggering? What will be the rating of the alternator (amps)?
