I had 321 stainless tube with some 316 flexible stainless clamped on both ends, but had leaks. I have since gone to inconel that I got from Ebay. the first joint I have is v-band joints, which don't move, but allow disconnecting the headers from the rest of the exhaust system. Then I have variously 2 1/8 inch and 2 inch inconel tube, and two inconel bellows. All joints are completely welded. The muffler is hung underneath, and has plenty of movement due to it's being hung from brackets with 321 stainless straps. I will provide photos the next time I go up to the hangar, probably Thursday. I just finished fitting all the pipes, now I have to tack weld all of them, remove them and complete the welds. Luckily there is a TIG welder available at the fire department shop, and it's located adjacent to a loading dock where I can pull the airplane up to. All this about 200 yards from my hangar. Someone up there must like me.

As far as a slip joint we used a www.burnsstainless.com double wall slip joint into Y collector & a stainless braid flex joint before the Hushpower muff. David.

rotary? I want to use 321 stainless X .065 wall at the inlet but what
practices should be observed as far as slip joint construction? Do you
expand the tube to fit over the same size? Do you purchase different size
tubes? What is the preferred design of the slip joint? Is wall thickness
maintained throughout the length? Thanks for any help
