I would not attempt it unless I used a quality colbalt drill bit (not carbide - too brittle). I would start off with a drill bit undersize but not smaller than 1/8" perhaps 3/16" (too small and they may wander). Then if you progressively enlarge the hold with a larger drill bit, you are more likely to drill a straight hole. You will need to drill at a slow rpm or risk burning the drill bit and hardening the metal even more. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, then the shipping charges to someone who knows what they are doing is probably cheap in the long run.
