Hi Steve,
It's been so hot here that the cooling of the pilot has been my main problem.  I only have about 36 hours on the -8 but it is cooling OK in any weather I can tolerate.

I posted my cooling developments here on fly rotary so they should be in the archives.  There is also a summary on my website (RV-8 page).  Also covered in issue 100 of Contact! magazine.  Last change was to inlet sizes which I had made a bit small.  Looks like 6" diameter for water and 5.5" Dia. for oil would be about right for my installation.  They are slightly smaller right now.  I played with outlet changes till I was tired of fiberglass and never made much progress.  Inlets were the key on mine but this is not always true.  It depends on a LOT of variables.   Outlet is now standard RV-8 dimensions.

Rad is a 12 X 18 X 2.625 core Griffin,  Oil cooler is 10.5 X 11 x 2  generic 30 row cooler.

Only time cooling is limiting is during full power climb in 92+ temps.  I plan to install a water mist system on oil cooler to handle that condition.  With a 3000+ fpm ROC I can always throttle back a bit if I'm out of distilled water.

Hi Tracy

How are you going with ironing out the setup of your RV8 20B?
You’ve had a summer and I’m wondering how its going.
I chose a similar setup as far as cooling so keen to see how its going.
Can you give us your radiator dimensions and intake and exit sizes?

Thanks

Steve Izett
