Hi Chris,

First, congratulations on your first flight and making it around the pattern without incident ... well done.

Second, I have a radiator similar to yours; it is 20x5.5x5.5 inches core dimension, with 1.5" in/out hose connections.  It is made by Ron Davis Racing - not Ed Klepis, but otherwise very similar.

My water coolant numbers (215-220F) are a bit better than yours but not significantly, based on 80F and 85 mph climb airspeed; at the same time my oil temp is 175-180F.

I am still looking for further optimization of the coolant system myself but chose to operationally-limit myself to <80F while building time on the airplane ... now have 30 hours.

What was the OAT at time of flight? -  and what was your airspeed during WOT climb?

N492CM flew for the first time Sunday morning.  It was a short flight (.2)—just enough time for one pattern.

The engine was super smooth, and seemed to have lots of power, although I never really did look much at the dynamic RPM that I reached.  I was busy paying attention to the coolant temperature.  The oil temp stayed below 200 the entire flight.  But I took off with water temp at 185, then with full power and the climb to only 2000, the temp rose to about 230.  I pulled the power back, and basically glided around the pattern for a full stop.  As soon as I pulled the power and dropped the nose, the temp started back down.  When I landed, it was back to 195.  Taxied back uneventful.

I have the small (facial area) thick radiator from Ed Klepeis (see the pic below).  Is anyone else using this one?  How have your temps been?  I would like info and pictures on your setup to see if there is some tweaking I can do to mine.
