flew for the first time Sunday morning. It was a short flight
(.2)—just enough time for one pattern.
The
engine was super smooth, and seemed to have lots of power, although I never
really did look much at the dynamic RPM that I reached. I was busy paying
attention to the coolant temperature. The oil temp stayed below 200 the
entire flight. But I took off with water temp at 185, then with full
power and the climb to only 2000, the temp rose to about 230. I pulled
the power back, and basically glided around the pattern for a full stop.
As soon as I pulled the power and dropped the nose, the temp started back
down. When I landed, it was back to 195. Taxied back uneventful.
I
have the small (facial area) thick radiator from Ed Klepeis (see the pic
below). Is anyone else using this one? How have your temps
been? I would like info and pictures on your setup to see if there is
some tweaking I can do to mine.
