Yeah, Lynn, it's my redrive.  A one off that could be considered a
    re-design of the Ross units.

The piece in the rear is the bellhousing, a large aluminum
    casting.  I
sold that part off to another builder and built a mounting plate
    closer
    to what RWS sells.

The propeller bolts up to a NASCAR wheel hub (front left, right
    behind
the input shaft) with the very stout axle bolted to the gearbox.  The
input shaft drives the planets, and a free floating shaft transfers
power from the carrier directly to the prop, so that if the shaft
    breaks
the prop will windmill freely.  Gear ratio is 3.17.

I drew up a couple like that, with a NASCAR safety hub and bearings. My last racer has quick change axle stub tubes and hubs on the front uprights with the stock spindles cut off of a pair of Mustang II spindles. Just one spare hub and bearings fits any corner. Strong as a bridge and aluminum lite.

The 3 plus ratio is better as well. What are the gears from?

Well done.

Ford planetary set.  C-3, I believe.
