| George,
Visually comparing the two pumps, I would say that the cast iron impeller of the 13b/20b looks superior to the stamped-steel impeller of the renesis pump. Mazda probably changed designs as a cost-savings measure. I would think that under high loads the renesis' impeller blades could flex. It looks more like the typical American automobile water pump. But is the renesis pump more efficient? I have no idea. Anyone want to volunteer to run a flow test?

Mark /Kelly,
I believe the Renesis is a much improved version of
the 13B pump, but can't remember the reasons. I assume it is partly because of
the impeller and partly because of the tolerances between the impellor and the
pump housing ( being a close tolerance).
Do you have any info on the impellor/ tolerances
etc.

Kelly,
Keep in mind that I'm comparing it to a 20B water pump, not a 13B water
pump. The 20B pump (housing & cartridge, no pulley) weighs 11.8 lbs.
The Renesis pump & housing after being cut off the front cover is
4.5 lbs. So, I potentially can save over 7 lbs. The big question
is if the Renesis WP flow is enough water to cool the 20B.
At present, I'm still gathering parts for the conversion, so I'm
currently running the stock 20B pump.
Any idea what the Meziere pump weighs? You'll need to add the
weight of brackets too. The Renesis pump will fit onto the front cover
same as the stock pump... well, with a few minor mods.

Michael,
Beautiful pump but did you see a few posts back that
Mark Steitle has
adapted a RX8 aluminum pump to his 20B and reported several lbs
of
weight saving..........Jump in here Mark............Photos welcome
