The injector pulse width is large when staged because of the relatively small primary injectors. When you turn on the Cold Start switch it turns on the big secondaries and swamps the engines capability to burn all that gas. If the injectors were the same size, the mixture knob could compensate for that but there is not enough range to handle this situation. That's just one side effect of having large secondary injectors. This is g= oing to be the case on the 4 port Renesis if the engine is staged (running = on primaries only).=A0 The injector pulse width is large when staged becaus= e of the relatively small primary injectors.=A0 When you turn on the Cold S= tart switch it turns on the big secondaries and swamps the engines capabili= ty to burn all that gas.=A0 If the injectors were the same size, the mixtur= e knob could compensate for that but there is not enough range to handle th= is situation.=A0 That's just one side effect of having large secondary = injectors.

Kevin,

I used the RX-8 plugs that were in my engine when I bought it for the first 200 hrs of flight.=A0 They has 9400 miles of highway driving on them first!
I changed them last week and could not tell any difference.=A0 They are the iridium plugs.

On another subject - while flying Friday, I turned the cold start switch on and the engine quit - I adjusted the mixture knob all the way lean and it would not run.=A0 I than decided to turn the cold start off! I'll install a switch guard on it soon.

RX-7 plugs will work fine in it.=A0 The RX-8 plugs are Iridium and they do last longer but are not a necessity.=A0 Mine have passed the 300 hour mark and are working fine (with very little 100LL).
