When I reassembled this plate for the PM generator project I used   AN426AD­6­10 rivets. I needed the countersunk rivets for this to fit against the rotor cup and I figured that using the AD rivets just made sense in this application. I did use a hydraulic press to squeeze them.

Preliminary thoughts are that I may change from -6A rivets to -6AD.  The As were chosen for the same reason that steel rivets were not acceptable.  That might have been over reaction.

I was going to ask about that. For those who haven’t looked it up; the “A”s are ‘soft 1100 grade aluminum with tensile strength of 16,000 psi; the “AD”s  are 2117 Al with tensile strength of 38,000 and shear of 26,000 psi.  A considerable step up in strength.
