Sounds like a plan.  I'll be out at the airport on Friday and will do it then.  (I should have brought the damper home with me.)

I've never encountered this before but I'd  remove the damper, and examine the streaks under a microscope or 10x loop.  Obviously you want to check for looseness of the rivets.  Try gripping the shop head with vice grips and see if you can turn the rivet in the hole.  If yes, return the damper to me and I'll evaluate & rework it as needed.

Tracy,

The first time I noticed the streaks I just cleaned them off.  They may have be caused by corrosion X used previously, but I have no way to tell.  Approx. 2-3 hours of running have occurred since I first wiped it clean and reinstalled the psru and I have not used any corrosion X or anything else that could cause the streaks to reappear.  I've attached a picture of the other side which shows similar streaking.  So, my guess is they are aluminum streaks.  Assuming they are smoking rivets, what's the recommended fix?

I get similar looking streaks caused by the corrosion X that I spray around in that area to prevent rust & corrosion.  But if that is aluminum dust instead of oil, it requires immediate attention.  Are you able to tell?

This post is directed toward those of you that have a few hundred hours or more on your RD2-x gearbox.  I'm getting "smoke" streaks leading out radially from the circle of rivets on the flywheel adapter plate on my 20B.  Do others find these streaks on their adapter plates?  I'm wondering if the rivets are working loose and need to be replaced or upgraded.  Maybe I need a beefier adapter plate.  Am I worrying over nothing, or is this something that is headed for an in-flight failure?
