"Smoking rivets" are a phenomenon that indicates the
rivets are working in the holes. Happens occasionally in RVs usually on the
bottom fuselage skins directly behind the firewall where the prop blast beats on
the fuselage (and also an area that takes a lot of the landing gear loads). Some
guys use proseal in addition to rivets in areas prone to this. Have you asked
Tracy about it?

Subject: [FlyRotary] RD2-C Flywheel Adapter Plate
This post is directed toward those of you that have a few hundred
hours or more on your RD2-x gearbox. I'm getting "smoke" streaks leading
out radially from the circle of rivets on the flywheel adapter plate on my 20B.
Do others find these streaks on their adapter plates? I'm wondering
if the rivets are working loose and need to be replaced or upgraded. Maybe
I need a beefier adapter plate. Am I worrying over nothing, or is this
something that is headed for an in-flight failure?
