Margie Warnke told me the same thing about my prop. No coincidence - Margie and Clark were once married and learned the art of prop carving from her father Bernie.
My problem - appears I have too much prop - would like to get a little more RPM out of it. But I'm a little hesitant to start whittling on it for fear of screwing it up. Margie's vanished off the face of the earth and Clark has retired.
Guess I'll just have to trade up to an RD-1C and a new Catto prop.

How does the AoA change on a fixed pitch prop?
Clark Lydick of Performance props once explained to me how his wood props are designed to twist slightly to reduce the pitch and get you higher rpm for take-off, but them twist back in cruise providing some of the benefits of a variable pitch prop. It worked fairly well, but the IVO is better.
