Clark Lydick of Performance props once explained to me how his wood props are designed to twist slightly to reduce the pitch and get you higher rpm for take-off, but them twist back in cruise providing some of the benefits of a variable pitch prop. It worked fairly well, but the IVO is better. John Slade
