I made adapters to make both 1" . That's plenty in this application, even for a 20B. This is on the RV-8. The RV-4 is using two cores with 5/8" ins & 3/4" outs (in parallel). The in/out on the RX-8 may be 1.25 inch.  That is what mine = are on the plane.
