Had my first flight away from the immediate vicinity of my home airport = today. I've been hesitant to leave because I'm surrounded by a lot of = mostly unlandable mountains and desert. But the airplane has been flying = well for the past few hours with nothing to do after each flight but = look things over - nothing to fix. So I ventured out over the mountains to Borrego some 50 miles away. = Nothing really to report. Everything worked fine and the airplane seems = to be performing well. It still seems to be matching the performance of = my old 160HP RV-6A (though if the EFISM can be trusted, the fuel burn is = a little higher). And at some point I think there is more performance to = be had since I still think I'm giving up some HP and have some excess = cooling. But those are things to address in the future. For now I'm just = going to fly it.=20 So add another 1.3 hours to the total. 13 hours in the book, 27 more to = go.
