I'm well behind in my e-mails but can't see a response to your question. If that is the stock standard exhaust manifold it appears to be of a poor design - as you probably guessed. Blending would be more appropriate IMHO.

in my very limited understanding o
f engines, I thought that a lot of attention was spent on reducing turbulent flow in the intake and exhaust streams.  I am surprised to see what the center port of the stock renesis exhaust manifold looks like - kind of a rectangular hole matched to a round tube, with square edges everywhere.  I'm not planning on modifying this, but was interested in other's comments.    kevin
