The belly panel is painted aluminum about= 2-3" above the muffler at closest point and shows no sign of heat damage. = I bolted a vertical attach tab to the firewall, made a SS circular strap t= o go around exhaust pipe, match-drilled all of the above, including muffler= and collector, then welded a =BC" rivet to the SS strap, followed by anoth= er =BC" hole which has an AN bolt lock-wired in place for good measure. I = attached the tailpipe in similar fashion and supported it on my landing gea= r Vees. The assembly is fairly heavy, so you will have to support it at bo= th ends ... i.e., some rivets to belly panel are most likely required.
