My planned paint scheme has always been to use white, green, and purple - the colors of an old Jet Ski. When Bruce T asked what color I wanted the engine powder coated I told him purple. He said he had 2 shades, "light purple" and "dark purple". Hard to make much sense of that over the phone from 3000 miles away so I chose "light purple" based on his description. The engine came to me the color you see - basically raspberry pink. I called him and asked what happened to purple. After some discussion he mentioned that he had a bit of a color blindness issue so asked for some help from his daughter. Who at the time was 6 years old. I dont know if thats all true or if thats what he told me to end the conversation, but it makes a good story (my wife loves to tell it). So I chose to keep the engine "pink".
Oh, as with the cowl, the engine install is photogenic - the engine (and the cowl) look better in pictures than they do in person. But thanks for the compliment. Now if I can just get back to flying. Latest hang-up, while I wasnt paying attention I found out my medical expired last month. Hope to resolve that this week and try to fly this weekend. 37.5 hours to go.
