I thought that some of you who expressed an interest in calculations
that may give you a better understanding of what
You are facing in an engine out landing in my earlier “Fan
Out” email, might like to have the attached spreadsheet.
You can enter data tailored for your hypothetical airfield
and aircraft performance parameters to get a feel for how much time you have
once you enter downwind (The assumption is you are on downwind parallel to the
runway at the start of the runway) – if not then “adjustments”
must be made. Remember you aircraft performance will certainly be changed
without the fan turning away.
Any suggestion to improve the spreadsheet or discovery of any
errors in calculations or logic would be appreciated.
