[FlyRotary] Re: Cog-Belts - was: More progress, more ques
I had a belt drive on the Ford V6, belt was about 6" wide; had to buy a custom-order, set of 4 - could not buy less Š set was $320 or $80 each. No idea about the actual service life but at that time people on the "Ford list" were expecting to reach 2000 hours.

From what I've seen so far, ALL cog belts, doesn't matter what size or what HP limits, have a very safety concerned operating limit of 500 hours/2 years, whatever comes along sooner, even if they still LOOK almost brand-new. This was stressed on all belt PSRU sites (for fixed wing or rotary wing).I've not seen replacement belt prices because they have not been posted and I have not asked.

I have run a cog belt on my Rotary Coot for about 1000 hrs now and I replace the belt about every 150 hrs just to give me that warm fuzzy feeling, I am using an Opit Omega belt and the cost is about 100 bucks.
