I really cranked the filter down tonight, however, it is still leaking.  I guess I will have to drain the system and more closely inspect the mounting base.  It is not leaking from the surrounding hoses, but seeping...well seeping in a pretty large amount from the seal on the filter at the mounting base.

Would a small bead of silicone cause a problem I am unaware of.  Of course, I would rather it just work right.  Sigh.

All the best,

Chris

Thanks, I will try to torque it down more.  My concern was that I was making it too tight, but now that I remember that we are running at higher oil pressure than my '65 289 Mustang etc. So I will crank it on down and see if'n that helps.

You lube the gasket with oil when you install and only hand tighten it.  Should not be a problem.  Any thoughts?  I have had this with the last two filters.  The current one being a K&N...the previous an STP. Thanks for your kind attention.

All the best,

Chris

I use only both hands, but I can get things really tight. The wrenching nut on the can is cute but not strong enough to use for tightening. I use two K&Ns on a dual filter stand. Raced for years that way using 100 to 110 PSI, and never a leak.  Lynn E. Hanover
