Here's the method used.
 
Mode 3
Mode 2
Mode 7A only if directed by Tracy.
Mode 9 auto tune with some engine off programming in Mode 0  and EM2\3 using the MAP table screen.
I use the MAP table screen (engine off) to smooth out gaps in tables address or if auto tune is having to make large corrections. My experience is auto tune works well and fast if only small adjustments are necessary. Large adjustment make it difficult to stay on one address. Still works but takes longer and more attention to the throttle.

Tracy,

I pushed the email SEND button too soon. After a quick read of the Mode 2 section in the EC2 manual, I interpreted the instructions to be: make Mode 2 adjustments at low MAP/RPM settings AFTER making Mode 3 adjustments.

So, my understanding of tuning order is:

Mode 3
Mode 2
Mode 9
Mode 1
