Yes, basically what you wrote above. In page 13 of my EC2 manual it describes the CPS test as: fuel off, spark plugs out and visible. Push the starter. I should see the prop spin AND blue spark. This is what did occur.

But obviously if I have the CPS backwards ignition timing is going to be a problem. Let's hope its that simple (DOH!).  Can't wait until Tuesday!  I'd do it tonight but somehow I don't think my neighbors would find the sounds of my engine revving in the driveway to be as melodic as I would. More's the pity.

I changed to the D580 coils. You updated my EC2/EM 2 in October of 2007 for these coils. Bob W. rebuilt the wiring harness for the new coils as well. I received an updated paper manual for both the EC2 and EM2 at that time, with the date and revision info written on the front.
