I do remember reading what the stator core is made of but can't now remember what the material was.
Did you count the number of windings and thickness of the wire?
Perhaps making them from scratch may be a lot cheaper - don't know.

It is the softest mild steel that I've ever run across.  The stuff is downright delicate.  You can see in the link below how the stator is falling apart, which it does as soon as the wires are removed.
