Greetings
again,
I'm still considering
a single rotor, and I'm trying to get a real idea of what will be required
to do this. Here's my current list of required mods. Anything
else?
- new eccentric
shaft
- remove the gear portion
of one of the stationary gears (front or rear?)
- shorter tension
bolts
- new counterweights
- new oil
pan
- some way to add and check
oil
- maybe some porting
changes to front and rear housings (how would two 6-port end housings do in
stock form ?)
- custom redrive or
adaptation of an existing drive
- custom intake and exhaust
as with any other engine conversion
Somehow, this doesn't sound
so simple anymore :-)
I still don't know if I
want to pursue this. It would sure be nice if the all up weight could come
down to the Rotax 912 range, but that's not going to happen with iron end
housings. It might not even happen with aluminum end housings. Still
thinking about it though, especially since I have all these engine parts in
the garage.
Cheers,
Rusty (repeat after me,
"Finish the RV-3 first")
