- To have room under engine, psru, and eng mount, currently
plan to use
"Haywire" S. Todd Bartrim's mounting method.
-- Todd, can you send me the dwg files for you 4
"sub-mounts" that
attach to the engine?
- Since I'm a taildragger and not planning on floats and skiis like
Todd, I won't have any nosegear mounting hardware on my engine mount,
freeing up space where I want the a/c cores.
- Am in early stages of coordinating my special engine
mount design
with Van's vendor Custom Components, Bruce McIntire, 253-272-5554
in Tacoma,
Washington. I think he did Todd's.

Hi David;
Bruce provided me with a partial mount that only had the gear leg sockets.
I had tried to get detailed information from Van's regarding the gear leg
geometry for what they sell as a "float mount", but they were unwilling to
give me any. The float mount is simply a Lyc mount with both taildragger
main gear sockets & tricycle nose gear socket. Atkins aviation gave me
Bruce's phone #, as he had built a mount for them. Bruce was helpful and
while he could provide the info I needed he also offered to build a partial
mount with only the gear sockets attached and the material needed to finish
the mount for a very good price. As he uses a jig to align the gear sockets,
it is quick and easy for him to do this and ensures proper geometry of the
landing gear.
We never discussed having him do a complete mount as this was something
that I wanted to do, but I suspect that it would have been considerably more
$$$$ as it would be much more labour intensive working without jigs.
Bruce sent my mount to Van's along with a batch for them and they included
it with my finish kit shipment, so I had no additional shipping charges.
I will send the .dwg files directly.
