Yes, you could say it got my attention, Al. You are right, I had grounded (touched) the container against the aircraft and was myself leaving against the wing as I was not unaware of the potential hazards. But after 4 decades of pouring fuel from plastic containers - what could go wrong?. But, I do recall that when I attempted to lift the 5 gallon container higher with one hand (about 30 lbs when full) while holding the funnel with the other - that it was a bit of a struggle and I broke contact between the container and the funnel. Immediately the fun began. So now you know why I put up with lead fouled plugs {:>). Thanks, Al. I figure I have just about run through most of the potential problem areas (many that no one else ever seems to encounter {:>)) - think of me as a rotary beta tester (perhaps alpha tester would be closer). I do have a certificate presented to me that is entitled "Lightening strikes, 1, 2, . 6 times (or More) award " enumerating a small section of the "interesting" events that have occurred to me in adapting the rotary to flight. I wish I could say that the list had not grown since I received it from RWS in 2002. However, the number of "events" has easily doubled since then. I do believe I ran afoul of the rotary grimlins at some early point in the endeavor {:>). But, fortunately all have left aircraft and me in one piece (well, I have used up one wheel pant and tire, a few seat cushions and I'm certain a few years off my life span). When being chastized by one of my sisters after one event, I mentioned my "guardian angle" to which she reply - "yes, Ed, but you just remember - she's not getting any younger either!" Ah, nice to hear that. Keep the fire inside the combustion chamber and exhaust guys! Spout in contact with the metal flange; flange grounded to the fuel by the cap chain. The fuel trucks have conductors in the hose.
