That's very interesting... I may need to study this more carefully when I have some time to really concentrate. Do you know of anyone that has actually built a muffler utilizing this technique? How did it work out? Any drawings/sketches/pictures?

Does anyone else get "Make" magazine? One of the things I want to try is creating a phononic band-gap filter. I'm not sure of all the details, but it I think a tangential entry to an array of 3/8" stainless cool tubes, with a large central rear exit. Do a google search for "phononic band-gap" if you don't know what that is.
