Lots of different options on fuel systems. You may choose
to feed from one tank and then crossfeed like Tracy does. Or you may choose to
use a fuel selector of some sort and switch tanks. My system T's the two pump
outputs together (1 pump on each tank) and uses an electric valve on
the return. The check valves in the pump outputs prevent crossfeeding. A single
DPDT switch on the panel turns on whichever tank pump I want and configures
the return valve to send the fuel back to the appropriate tank.
The point is there are a lot of choices. I'd recommend
putting return lines in both tanks. Easier to cap an unused one
than to add one to a finished tank.
One other thing. I ran my return lines internally all the
way through the tanks to the outboard ends. My return fuel dumps back into the
tank out near the vent. I chose to do this thinking that the fuel circulating
through the tank might help mix the 2 stroke oil if I ever have a case where I
cant premix it before putting fuel in the tank. May be overkill but was pretty
easy to do.

Subject: [FlyRotary] Finishing RV
Tank
I'm at the point of closing up fuel tanks on my RV-9a wing kit and
question if there are any additional steps I need to add before the Proseal
gets mixed.
Im assuming that I need to add fittings for the fuel return (from the
pressure regulator) and another for transferring fuel from one tank to the
other. Any suggestions? I have a 4-port Renesis
engine.
