John,
Well - I guess what I must think of them as a long stud. What the correct technical term is I'm unsure of.

Reminds me of when a mate of mine went looking for a specific screw while he was in the States. Seems what he was really looking for was a self tapping wood bolt. A screw was something else again - which we shall not mention here.

There is a whole host of differing descriptions from down here and up there.

When I was in the States in 2002, everytime I asked for a top for something it was a cap, so I started to ask for caps of things and they turned out to be tops - I gave up!

The only time I got offended was when everyone thought I was a POM - apparently the American ear can't distinguish between the English accent and the Australian accent. Most Australians don't have a broad Aussie accent.

Actually a Southern chap was milling around while I was discussing Vietnam with some American Veterans and he said " G.d D..m - what part of the East Coast do you come from" I said " I don't come from the East Coast, I come from down South" G.d D..m he said - " How far South!"
But I digress.
George (down under)

George, out of curiosity, what do you folks down under call connecting rod bolts.  JohnD
