Ed, you had your PSRU nickel plated, didn't you?

I just got off the phone with Precision Alloys in Raleigh, NC.  They said that you can't nickel plate aluminum.  They will do cadmium plating for $40/run.

1) How did you get yours nickel plated if it isn't possible?  Did they copper plate it first?
2)Would the nickel offer any substantial benefits over cadmium?
